Blackwell Blackwell - the arts and crafts house
Blackwell is one of England's most important surviving houses from the turn of the 20th century. Designed by MH Baille Scott between 1898 and 1900, it is a superb example of the arts and crafts movement.  It occupies a stunning position overlooking Windermere in the English Lake District and has recently been restored and opened to the public as a gallery for craft and applied arts.



 


Carlisle Castle Carlisle Castle
A massive medieval fortress founded to protect the historic city of Carlisle in 1092. Hear about its role in sieges and stories about the ghastly prison.

 

 

 

 

Cumberland Pencil Museum
Enter the museum through a replica of the Seathwaite mine, journey through the history of pencil making at the worlds longest pencil and finally relax in our coffee shop, while the kids follow the quick trail.

Dove CottageDove Cottage & The Wordsworth Museum
Wordsworth's most famous home where he lived from 1799 to 1808. Onsite museum and gift shop.

 

 

 

Honister Slate MineHonister Slate Mine

Hutton in the Forest Historic House
Historic house and gardens based on medieval pele towers with substantial 17th, 18th and 19thC additions. Extensive gardens in woodland setting walled garden, topiary, woodland walk and lake with cascade.

Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway
Heritage steam engines haul open-top and cosy covered carriages from the lake district costal village of Ravenglass to the foot of England's highest mountain.

The Rheged Centre
International award-winning The Rheged Centre, Europe's largest grass covered building, home to a giant cinema screen showing epic movies daily. Regular events.
